S.I. gay,LESBIAN, bisexual & transgender parade
welp, I was there...it was a good time & and lesbians out-numbered the males by (what appeared to be) 2-3 to 1...I've always said it....Lesbians rule!!!
what was not good was the way the city/police routed the parade to the walkpath leading along the beach from the end of the boardwalk to the picnic area. way out of the public eye....I asked the organizer, (whom seemed to be glad for just having it!) about how come this wasn't on Cappadano Blvd.?....he told me: "Perhaps next year..."
BTW, I got "props" from lesbians, cops and pornographers!....I've always said we cross ALL cultral boundaries!

I was there too - cheering along the parade route and then later we went to the picnic area to hear the speeches. Truthfully, I hung around longer for the marching band which was one of the best I ever heard in a parade.
Although it is kind late in the game, just having the parade is pretty big for SI. Hopefully they will get Forest Avenue or something more public and legit feeling next year (and more politicians) but I guess they want to take it small steps to test the waters. It was really great to see the marchers arrive at the picnic area and cheer because they had completed the first Pride March in SI. The few Bible-thumping protesters only ended up looking like sour hicks compared to the happiness and high spirits of the parade marchers and supporters.
